چکیده

We present VLBA observations of 1667 MHz OH maser emission from the massive star formation region G5.89 0.39. The observations were phase-referenced, allowing the absolute positions of the masers to be obtained. The 1667MHzmasers have radial velocities that span 50 km s 1 but show little evidence of tracing the bipolar molecular outflow, as has been claimed in previous studies. We identify 23 Zeeman pairs through comparison of masers in left and right circular polarization. Magnetic field strengths range from 2 to +2 mG, and an ordered reversal in magnetic field direction is observed toward the southern region of the UCH ii region. We suggest that the velocity and magnetic field structure of the 1667MHz masers can be explained in the context of a model in which the masers arise in a neutral shell just outside a rapidly expanding ionized shell. Full-Polarization Observations of OH Masers in Massive Star-Forming Regions: I. Data

We present full-polarization VLBA maps of the ground-state, main-line, Π3/2, J = 3/2 OH masers in 18 Galactic massive star-forming regions. This is the first large polarization survey of interstellar hydroxyl masers at VLBI resolution. A total of 184 Zeeman pairs are identified, and the corresponding magnetic field strengths are indicated. We also present spectra of the NH3 emission or absorpti...

Large Magnetic Fields and Motions of Oh Masers in W75 N

We report on a second epoch of VLBA observations of the 1665 and 1667 MHz OH masers in the massive star-forming region W75 N. We find evidence to confirm the existence of very strong (∼ 40 mG) magnetic fields near source VLA 2. The masers near VLA 2 are dynamically distinct and include a very bright spot apparently moving at 50 km s−1 relative to those around VLA 1. This fast-moving spot may be...

Total linear polarization in the OH maser W 75 N : VLBA polarization structure

W75N is a star-forming region containing various ultracompact HII regions and OH, H 2 O, and CH 3 OH maser emission. Our VLBA map shows that the OH masers are located in a thin disk rotating around an O-star which is the exciting star of the ultracompact HII region VLA1. A separate set of maser spots is connected with the ultracompact HII region VLA2. The radial velocity of OH maser spots varie...

Phase-Referenced VLBA Observations of OH Masers at 4765 MHz

We report VLBA observations of maser emission from the rotationally excited Π1/2, J = 1/2 state of OH at 4765 MHz. We made phase-referenced observations of W3(OH) at both 4765 MHz and 1720 MHz and found emission in three fields within a ∼2000 AU diameter region and verified that in two of the three fields, 4765 MHz and 1720 MHz emission arise from the same position to within ∼4 mas (∼8 AU). We ...

Strong magnetic field in W75N OH maser flare

A flare of OH maser emission was discovered in W75N in 2000. Its location was determined with the VLBA to be within 110 au from one of the ultra-compact H II regions, VLA2. The flare consisted of several maser spots. Four of the spots were found to form Zeeman pairs, all of them with a magnetic field strength of about 40 mG. This is the highest ever magnetic field strength found in OH masers , ...
